La IX Nocturnal Güímarera
It once again shone as one of the most anticipated and beloved sporting events in Güímar, bringing together runners, spectators, and organizers for a night full of excitement and energy. This year, I had the opportunity to participate as one of the official photographers of the event, capturing every detail of this unique celebration of nighttime athletics. From the effort on the runners' faces to the vibrant atmosphere of the illuminated streets, every moment was a story worth immortalizing.
Organized by the Trivalle de Güímar Athletics Club and led with great dedication by Luis Mahy, the nighttime race also had the crucial support of several local businesses, whose collaboration made this ninth edition a resounding success. The community fully embraced the event, creating a festive atmosphere where sports, personal achievement, and camaraderie took center stage.
Photographing an event like this is much more than just clicking and capturing images; it means being present in every key moment, looking for those instants that tell a complete story. My goal was not only to capture the technique and dynamism of the runners in action but also to convey the energy, emotion, and passion that drove them. The night lights added a special atmosphere, illuminating the athletes as they made their way through the course and reflecting on their faces the effort, joy, and satisfaction of giving their all with every step.
From the very first kilometers, the race became a spectacle of resilience and motivation. Each runner carried their own story, and I had the privilege of capturing those small victories—the smile of someone pushing past their limits, the supportive gesture between teammates, or the emotion of crossing the finish line. The Nocturna Güímarera is much more than a competition; it is a celebration of sportsmanship and the unity of a community that supports and inspires each other.
With each edition, the Nocturna Güímarera establishes itself as a key event on the local sports calendar, attracting both experienced runners and enthusiasts of all ages and levels. The impeccable organization by the Trivalle de Güímar Athletics Club and the leadership of Luis Mahy are evident in every aspect, from the racecourse design to the logistical details that ensure an unforgettable experience for both participants and spectators.
This ninth edition exceeded all expectations, proving that the Nocturna Güímarera is much more than just a race. It is a night when Güímar comes together, a tradition that, year after year, strengthens the sense of community and love for sports. Seeing the response of Güímar’s residents and the enthusiasm of the runners was truly special, and being part of this story through my camera was a great honor.
